Crew Cab Window Woes

Hey Guys, I have searched the forums relentlessly and can't find a clear answer so here goes a new post. I bought the truck and the rear power windows didn't work very well. I cleaned the switches with contact cleaner and sprayed lubricant in the rear doors and they started working just fine. However, recently both rear windows have stopped working. I have checked the fuses but nothing is blown but what are the odds that both rear windows blew the motors? The front windows still work fine but I use the rear windows a lot and this is bugging me. I don't want to open up the door panels until I know what I am looking for. Can anyone help?

Both rear windows don't work regardless of which switch you use? ie drivers door, or rear doors.

There was a thread several months ago on how to rejuvenate the motores. Perhaps someone has it and I'll check and see if I can find it.

Yes, both rear windows are dead in the water regardless of which switch I try. I remember reading that thread but I can't find it now. Let me know if you do.

Have you looked at the wiring in the door jam? I had some problems with mine there. Just take a look to see that the wires are all good before you go buy new motors, and I am sure you made sure that the connection on the motor was good and snug.

Sounds like some bad wiring or bad motors.

They never put adiqute motors in doors for windows.

I had the same problems as Casey. The wiring in the jambs was all rotted out. Had to rewire both doors completely.

That fix was for door lock motors not power window motors. It involves a thermal resistor inside the motor. I dunno if the fix would work on the window motors or not. I'll look for the link as well, it cant hurt to try.

hers the link for the door locks. if the motors are similar the fix should work, assuming its the motors causing your problems and not other electrical issues.

When my back window stoped working I took the door panel off checked all switches and wiring and everything seemed ok. I called a friend who dose auto glass and he said sometimes you just have to tap the motor if its not working. I put all the switches back on tried it and had nothing, taped the motor and it worked. Put the panel on and that was it. Have had no problems since.
