Help!
I have a 98 Explorer and the drivers door is stuck in the locked position. The door is open and I can't get the latch to release or close. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am willing to try but have limited mechanical experience.

If I understand your problem, the latch is positioned like it would be if the door was closed but the door is in fact open? Try placing a large screwdriver or metal rod in the space that would be occupied by the door striker and then lift or pull on the door handle while holding the metal rod like it was the actual door striker. This should rotate the mechanism to the proper position.
