I just got off the phone with my Dad and he told me somebody down the road from him had a Ford Lightning with my bodystyle,I have a 77 F100 and had sent some pictures to him of my truck and he mentioned the truck down the road to me. I was not aware that Ford had a truck called a Lightning back in the 70's. If there was such could someone put some info and maybe a picture on this truck?
Thanks in advance for info.

In addition to the Camper Special you could get a Trailer Special. No Lightning's offered back then.
Wait a minute fellas. Maybe he's not as far off the mark as you think.
In the dark recesses of my memory I remember seeing one on a dealer lot that said "Johnny Lightning" (The Hot Wheels competitor) on it with some weird paint, wheels, visor, tonneau cover, side pipes, etc. This would have been about 74-76 or so.
The dealer near me always had some new trucks or vans done up like that back then, but I don't know where they came from. I suspect they were third party conversions, like the Leisure Time vans and countless others since then. Ford was into that sort of thing back in the day.
I'll bet Dad is remembering something like that.
Don't forget the Free Wheelin pkg and the Pace truck. There was also the 76 Bicentennial Edition. Plus dealers back then would put stripes and pipes and anything else you wanted on there.

WOW Ranger 429, thats a clean one. I went to work at a Ford dealer in 1977 and we still had a couple of those on the lot. They weren't pretty blue though, they were still on the lot brown.
