Alright I'm graduating in may and I want to ask for a lift and some new tires for my truck.. i'm trying to decide between the skyjacker 3" or a leveling kit.. we all know skyjacker is pretty good, but I've heard good and bad about leveling kits such as the poly ones do not last long because it is like essentially rubber and it wears down.. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience and could lend me a hand, thanks
well, i was running a 2.5" Autospring kit, and i really liked it...... for a while anyhow... then i decided it was time for a 6" lift. the autospring kit is very good. the biggest debate people have with it is which exact size to get, and they base it on how much they tow/haul stuff.... those that tow a bunch usually get the 2" kit, so they dont get a nose up look. and, for the money you spend on an autospring kit from ebay, you really cant beat it. you can clear up to a 35" tire depending on wheel size and backspacing.
My thing is like I'm gonna be about 3 hours from home, where I'm going to college and with gas and the fact my dad pays, I am leaning towards the leveling kit and some 285s.. give it more aggresive look and help get some off road traction.. but I mean if I got a 3" lift i'd probably only get a like 33s or maybe 305s..
I have the same question. I have a 2.5" and AAL on my 2wd. To the OP I would try to go with the 305's. After looking at countless pictures that size gives you a nice oversized tire type look. The 285's look good but not a big enough change in size for the price you are paying. I have 275's on my 2wd and really wish I went bigger.
hey i have a 06 xlt 4x2 screw with a 2" auto spring kit in the front check out my pic in my gallery it sits at 37 1/2 at all 4 corners with stock tires on 17" wheels
I personally can't speak on if they will fit on a 2wd, but I have the 2.5" AS on my 4X4 Screw with 305/65/17 on stock rims with not rubbing. I am glad I decided to go with the 305 as opposed to the 285 which I was considering. It gives it a more beefy look.

How much was your gas mileage affected by going from stock to 305?

To be honest I really haven't checked is since I changed tires. I have noticed a slight change though, but nothing too drastic. Maybe somewhere between 1-2 MPG.
