and IMO, all specific engine discussion should be in the engine series forum it pertains to.

Not a Year of Truck forum.

Thats why you need Holly the four barrel, a 30-30 10 ga. side by each Tomahawk over/under with cruise control, with a photon laser banana clip. Its the IRS BS interswap raido active scud busting side arm non governed carberator of the future.

Be sure to ask for the optional 30,000 jigawat deer shiner, and cigarette lighter.

If that one doesnt suit your fancy, you need Betty Lou, she was the one,
a combination AK 57 oozie radar laser triple-barrel double-scoped hit-seekin shotgun, er, carberator....

I may come across as an azzhat, sorry...but that's the way it is, and at 63 + years, I ain't gonna change.

After typing several posts in this thread explaining what FT engines are, I then see a post that sez otherwise. Ppl confuse the MEDIUM DUTY FE based 330 engine with the HEAVY DUTY FT based 330 engine...two different cups of tea that share next to nothing..except cubic inches.
Now I get to say it. You sir are flat wrong! (That does feel good) I guess this shows the different perspectives. I am a mechanic and you are a parts man.
Did you read my last post that you committed on? You say that the FT and FE {share next to nothing} in common that sir is just plain mis-information. They come from the same base engine design. As I stated before my 428 has a FT 391 block with no changes to install the FE 428 crank rods and pistons except boring the cylinders out to the correct size. The FE cylinder heads were bolted on with no mods, it has a crane came that was meant to go in a FE, the rod and main bearings were intended for a FE, and the timing chain was also for a FE. It does have a FT fuel pump with a nice big filter on the bottom, but its bolted to a FE timing cover.
All these parts were bolted to a FT block that {shares next to nothing} in common with a FE 428 motor?
Just because it has a different part number doesn't mean it wont fit and didn't come from the same root source, being a parts man as many years as you were you know this, so I don't see why your are taking this position. I'm not sure why I'm going to all this trouble to convince you, I guess I just appreciate you and your contribution and knowledge as do others and I also don't like mis-information.

Wink Hmmm?

I also can't stand the idea of cutting apart a beautiful machine like that.If it was mine, I feel the best use if the truck would be a volunteer waterboy for wet t-shirt contest across America. I believe that you could wake up every morning knowing that you are a better person for sacrificing your time and equipment to helping others.

I'll update over the weekend.. I worked on it all day.. didnt get to the smog sticker..
Steam cleaned it..
stripped the interior.. not a spec of rust on the cab.. found one very minor spot in one of the boxes where something heavy must have been stored .. easy fix

Owners manual said lo back bostroms were an option for this truck.. wouldnt they be totally cool

I need
seals.. doors
floormat .. heavy duty rubber... the rest is elbow grease and some repainting of inspection plates... and reinforcing the grab handles on the cab,, welding up some bracket holes in the center hump inspection cover

I going to sound mat the entire interior... add new grommets in the firewall,, and new rubber on all the shift levers.. thats about all it needs

Th "fire" wiring ranges from sano (probably original fmc) to hokey.. probably joes auto electric.. anyway.. it will take some time to update and make it firetruck sano,, but Im actually looking forward to it...
Rust I hate to deal with.. wiring is easy.. especially add on stuff.. cut it out and start over.. simple

Just on a lark I was speaking to my parts man and he just happened to have a NOS carb stting on the shelf they had found for a cutomer the year before.. customer balked at the price.. 500.00.. so they lost out.. he gave it to me for 75.00.. I couldnt pass it up

Is it a two barrel holey with a governer? I am a fleet mechanic for a utility company, and if its the afore mentined carb. I have to say you are very lucky to even find one and that price is a great deal. The last one that I bought was about 6 years ago and they told me it was the last one in the system at that time. The cost was almost $1100.00 so I bought it we had to have it the old one caught on fire and melted.

The top post of this page, he stated it was a 370 4V. At $1100 I would have made just about any carburetor work, and would have gladly paid $1-200 to have a special adapter made. My luck however would have been fun convincing the Smog Ref. that the OE carb is no longer available, and this is the only one that would work....

I had a mid 60s FT 4v intake drilled out to accept bigger bores of typical 650-750 cfm carbs. cost me $100...

then I found a 72 intake that was already bigger bore... ($10 @ pick-n-pull)

have fun with that, I love mine

Updates

Ok ford specialists..

I have some updates..

The truck is cool.. but I really bought it for the chassis.. so after much thought and debate I have decided to remove the fire body and pump... I will however keep a skid mounted pump setup to put on it in periods of high summer fire danger here ( I already have a skid foam setup)

So.. with that being said I spent the weekend removing all the lights and sirens, generator (which I will be re-using). Ive cut out about a mile of wire and old junctions boxes, a/c wiring. wires that went nowhere or to long gone accessories (this truck had everything,, right down to powered hose reels and light cord reels inside the boxes)... and a gaggle of switches switch boxes etc.. the interior is cleaning up nicely because of this.

While removing the headliner I discovered the supports for the roof.. as follows .. 1 sheet metal brace in center.. and 2 outboard cast iron heavy braces that are just wedged in between the roof lip fore and aft... Im wondering if anyone has heard about or seen these,, and what do the light duty trucks have for roof braces

It will take me a month to remove the box.. just because everything is so big and heavy,, even beyond the capabilities of my forklift.. so.. Ill be inviting some friends over for a "remove the box day"... then Ill post some cab and chassis pics...

The seat is out at being re done.. the floormat is on order.. I still need a gaggle of parts.. door seals ,window seals...

After removing all the light boxes in the cab I have some holes to weld up
I removed all the inspection covers.. Ill sandbalst and paint them.. along with wire brushing and re shooting the cab floor in silver.. then dynamatting it.. I almost feel like overhaulin on a small scale.. not!

I hope to make my shipping costs back for the sale of the body and emergency equipment and fire pump... time will tell

Further to follow as my budget and momma/work schedule allows

Ok ford gurus..

I have some updates..

seat is out for re building.. off to my buddys shop
I have a new floormat on order.. JC whitney was easy

I need new door seals etc.. still looking for the best price

I am cleaning up all the wiring leftover from the emergency equipment in the cab.. including some holes in the dash which I will weld up.. after getting every spec of surface rust and dirt out of the interior Ill prbaly reshoot in in the orginal color.. silver... then may dynamat it to cut down on the tin can noise... and kill some of the road vibes

I found the orginal build sheet tucked in the bact of the seat.. unfortunately its mostly unreadable because of years of being sat on.. Im still awaiting FORDs response in getting back with me
