Hey everybody, haven't posted in a while, so I thought I would post an update. I have an 82 f150 xlt lariat, bought a month ago, and has a real bad hesitation on acceleration. I have fiddled with the 2bbl. carb, installed new plugs, checked cap, rotor, etc. I got it running better, but still running like a piece of crap Chevrolet. I have decided to bite the bullet and buy a new carb. I just don't know what I need. I have only limited numbers on my carb. I believe it is a Motorcraft 2150. Where would be the best/cheapest place to find a good carb? Do I have to buy the 2150 or will some other carb work? I apologize for the length of post, but I need some help.
Thanks
See how much money a carb costs. I am not sure you can buy a new carb. You may have to settle for a rebuilt.
If it were me, and inspections are not too strict in your area, I would install a new holley #1850, 600 4bbl with a new or used 4bbl manifold. If you use the original aircleaner(it will fit) no one will ever know the difference until you mash it to the floor.
