stange thing has been happening since yesterday , and now today as well, never has done this before.
cme up to a stop light last night and while sitting there the RPM gauge is right at 650, then it starts to go to 750 and thn back to normal, and idles nice for a few then does it again. ight turns green and everything seems fine as i take off. tonight same thing happens while at a stop light, idles up alittle, and then normal and then idles decides to drop a little then comes back to normal and then light turn green and away i go, didnt seem to do anymore tonight.
filter, by this you mean fuel filter right? and if so i also thought that this may be the problem, i am not too sure when i changed it out last but i dont think it was that long ago, i would have to check my records,i am gonna grab one tommorow and give it a whirl. i dont use DK i use howes. and pretty much put it in evry tank, and if not that i put it in every second tank for sure.
Be sure you A/C Compressor is not running as it will also engage in Defroster mode. I would love if they put a switch on that.
My 96 7.3 also had similar fluctuations in RPM when the truck was new. I bitched about it enough and ford replaced the injectors.
actually my a/c compresor may have been on cause i had the selector **** on the winsheild defrost vent, so that could make me have the RPM go alittle wonky like that? i will try and take it off the deforst and put it on the other vents and see what happens.

The a/c compressor running shouldnt make a noticable change in RPM's like it does on the gassers. I can hear the tone of the engine change when it kicks in and puts more of a load on engine, but the tach doesnt move.

well i will grab a filter and try that first i guess
i changed my cps in july, my truck seemed to be running fine but i had a funny idle then like it wanted to miss or something so i decided to change it thinking it may be a sign of it going, think it maybe could be my cps this time?
