Frye Construction is back.

I got laid off today. I saw it coming & bought my commercial ins & workers comp again. I've been self employed most of my life & I like the boss I had then better than any I ever had at other jobs. I enjoyed this job but when one of the owners sold his share I knew the other partner couldn't stay in business. I'd bet the company will be out of business in 6 months. It was the biggest cabinet company in Memphis when I started the job. Its one of the smallest now.
I'm subcontracting cabinet installs for now. I am going to get my contractors license as soon as I can take the class & start remodeling. I've been self employed almost all my life.I subcontracted trim work for 28 yrs so I know what I'm getting into again. I liked the job I had but it didn't pay nearly as well as my own business. It was a good 4 yr break from the hard work of running your own business but I'm ready to be the boss again.
Ya'll wish me luck. I've done 2 jobs already this month & made as much a day as I make in 3 days at the old job.

My hat goes off to anyone who will leave the comfort of working for someone as goes out on his/her own. If I hadn't been a machinist by trade for 30 years and 18 of them at Smith & Nephew, I'd love to run my own business. I don't have the stomach for it now. And starting a machine shop is very$$$$.
