I need some help in dertimining what tire size I need.
I have a 15"x10" rim and need to wrap some rubber around it. I did a dry fit of the rim and determined I need no more than 6" of sidewall to avoid rubbing.
does anyone know what size this would be or where I could go to figure out what size I need????
You can ask a tire shop -- what you looking at is a 12" or so wide tire that's no taller than 27". Lots of low profile car tire would fit that bill, but I'm not sure about LT tires.
I was having that same problem nearly everyone said the only tire that should be put on a 10" wide rim is a 295/50/15 which is 295X50%=147.5 147.5/25.4=5.81 5.81+5.81+15=26.62" tall. I ended up getting 275/60/15's and I like them they are a little taller and not quite as wide but they look good (I think). Good luck finding some tires.
Ya,
I used the miata site to check on sidewall height and used tire rack and other sites to come up with "real" tire sizes. You can put any size in the miata calculator but most of them don't exist.
I did find (don't have it in from of me right now) only 295/50/15 tires to fit. I am not worried about getting LT tires as I will only be using them on weekend race events and not hauling anything. But as it looks now I might not even be able to do it because I really can't afford $110+ a tire right now. I was kinda hoping around $80/per like I got for my car to race on.
I found 2 tires in that size, just out of my budget range. I did find some DOT slicks but $240/ea is a bit much.
It also looks as if they are trying to phase out 15" performance tires. I can find all sorts of skinny car 15" tires and huge off road 15" tires but no low wide performance tires.
Yep that's the same problem I had. I didn't want to spend over $400 on tires for a truck that I only drive sometimes. I finally found 3 good used tires, so I still need one more. Wal-Mart.com has 275/60/15 Uniroyal tiger paw for $80 each with free site to store shipping, thats the cheapest I've found. I'll probably have to end up getting that one, so my truck doesn't look like I'm running around on my spare tire.
