I have a 2004 F250 extended cab and recently the transmission seems like it doesnt want to shift from 2nd to 3rd the rpms will go up to about 4000 then i have let out of it and it will finally shift. I checked the fluid and that was good I have about 59k miles on it. At first I thought it might be the tune I was running in it but I took that out and it still does it. I was running the Ultra Comp tune. Sometimes when It did finally shift the truck would buck when it went into gear. Any suggestions from anyone and is this something that would be covered under warranty if it was the transmission.
Have no idea whats wrong but this might help. Go into the tech folder and do a transmision relearning process. Maybe this will help. Just follow the steps and let us know.
I am no mechanic, but it sounds like the clutches are slipping. I had similar problems with mine not going into gear and shifting extremely soft. the clutches and steels were burnt. A friend has a dodge that is currentyly going the same as yours, goes to 2 but does not want to shift untill almost redlined and you let off. hope this helps any.
By the way, the trany was not covered under warranty after 36,000, unless you got an extended warranty. My custom trans set me back $4,900!

not necessarily. this is actually a fairly common issue lately with the torqshifts, even some guys are getting it with stock programming, but more common in some of the older SCT programs... it is most certainly a programming issue and can be fixed with tuning. what happens is that the transmission is actually going into neutral instead of fourth, so when the rpms go up it's not because of slippage so you're okay there... contact matt and he can modify your tune to fix that.. he changed mine and it hasnt happened since... but it only did it twice anyways before.
05dirty: the trany was a custom setup by a local shop. I know of several other people who took thier trucks there with great results, and talking to them, the guy knew his stuff. I also looked at ats and suncoast, however decided against them. not knocking thier product, as i know of a lot of people who use them.
LvTitan: Had i had matts tunes that is the first place i would have gone, but the truck is stock tuned for now. I knew it was mechanical because when the pan was dropped, it was coated with shavings/material (an excessive amount). when it was torn down, the shop said the clutches were burnt, and while it was still drivable, it was on its last leg.
