I Beam removal

OK guys, i need to know the tricks and quirks of removing the IBeams on my 76 F-150 2wd so i can replace the kingpins....also, do they make offset kingpin bushings to adjust camber??

They still used kingpins in 76? All my experience is with 4wd, so i dont know exactly. But usually you just zap all the ubolts off, jack the truck up some, and the axle will just roll right out. Most likely you'll have to use heat, or a beefy impact, to get the ubolts off.

Why do you need to remove the axle to replace the kingpins though?

He's talking 2wd. easiest is remove all the braking hardware, undo the spring/radius arm bolt.. let the arm hang down, remove the spring, undo the large single bolt at the bushing end.. then wrestle it down and out. Warning they are heavy.

Why would you have to remove the I beam to replace the kingpins??? I think you can remove all the braking stuff, remove a bolt that holds the kingpin in, & drive the kingpin out. All with the I beam on the truck. Scott

He didn't say if he had to drop the ibeams off to have kingpins done.. this is assuming he does

well i was told you have to press the kingpins out, so i would have to remove the IBeams to get them to our press, if not thats cool anyways because i want to change the pivot bushing, and possibly blast and paint the Ibeams.....thanks....
