Boost w/ SCT III

I am curious about what you guys with the SCT xcal tuned 6.0's are getting from boost? My buddy called me last night wondering about boost. He just installed some analog guages in his truck. He has had an xcal 2 for a couple months now (by the way, his is the canned tunes) and now that he has the guages he has all the questions LOL. Anyway, he says his only reads about 20 lbs of boost at WOT on the 120 hp setting. He has a magnaflow exhaust w/cat delete, and I think it is an AFE intake. I punched the throttle on my truck this morning and got 24 at the highest (I had just a bit of throttle in reserve) but it got high enough to convince me I could get max boost out of it. Well, I told him to check his exhaust at the turbo and make sure it was sealed correctly, I also told him to check his tubing for his boost guage and make sure there are no leaks. I am just wondering if the canned tunes from SCT reduce boost output or if they should still hit the 26 lb mark. Just curious, thanks.

I just got an X3 and am waiting for my custom tunes but drove around yesterday a little bit on the SCT Performance tune. The highest boost I saw was around 22lbs, not near full throttle but going up a slight incline in 3rd gear. I havn't really tested it out, only one day of driving, but 20lbs max boost sounds a little low to me. What kind of boost #'s was your friend seeing stock? BTW can't wait for my custom tunes!

I haven't recieved the custom tunes yet, but with the performance tune I only get about 20-22psi at full throttle in the lower gears but it does boost to about 29 in the higher gears on the interstate for example. I used to have an edge and in their higher settings it would also only boost to about 20 psi.

I doubt canned tunes would put out as much boost as custom tunes. Also, "every" truck reacts differently and the year of the turbo has an effect on boost numbers as well. for me, I've hit 34psi in 5th going up a pretty good grade w/eric's xtreme street. but if I am wot from a stop I will see 31psi. not sure why.

His truck is an 06 and he says the factory guage would hit 26-28 psi while the truck was stock. These are about the same readings I had in stock trim, so I am pretty sure the tuner dropped his boost. He thinks the truck runs slower now with the canned 120 hp tune than it did stock. I gave him Matt's website and told him to contact Matt and see what they could work out. I just run the mild street econ tune and think it is pretty good. Not a lot of power over stock, but WAAAYYY more driveable.

I've heard of canned tunes giving some trucks issues.

I have an Xcal3 on my 2007 using canned tunes. When stock, my stock boost gauge would read about 25psi at full throttle.

With the canned "street" tune, my stock boost gauge hits about 20-21 psi max. But the truck pulls WAY stronger than stock, even with the lower boost.
