What mirrior options have you seen for the 73-79 ford trucks, stock or after market, my mirrors look like hell and the actual mirror is busted out of them, i wanted to reaplce them with a nice looking mirror, anyone got pictures of there mirrors or sugggestions on some nice looking mirrors??
Ray
The above is a factory Ford mirror, one of 12 (!) different styles used on F100/350's = 1973/79.
D3TZ-17696-C .. Mirror Kit / D3TZ-17723-A .. Mirror head only.
Go see Cal, Go see Cal, Go see Cal.
1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Section 176; page 3 shows illustrations all the types available.
Take this ref to 'ol Cal Worthington Ford in Anchorage and ask the partsman to see the reference.
maybe i will just get new mirror heads they are so damn ugly though! matches most the rest of the truck!Ray
Sorry Ray, no longer available. I also checked Green Sales' online locator, they don't have them either.
Be careful buying the mirrors or heads elsewhere without seeing them...there was another similar style...the head and brackets look alike, but won't fit. This style uses an additional steady rest bracket that fits from the mirror to the door.
Your style is TYPE 7 in the parts catalog, the similar style is TYPE 6.

ray those arent the ones those are ugly i wouldnt do that to ya go to ebay home page type in (1970 ford mirror) hit search there is gonna be a couple picks scroll down then it will say 10 items found in ebay stores the first picture of a mirror is the one the store name is on the far right its called red hill salvage
hope that helps Bob
Just go to ebay type in (1970 ford mirrors) first picture there being sold by a red hill salvage $22 not as nice as mine but you can see what they look like there small sporty type
D3TZ-17696-K = left / D3TZ-17696-L =right / same as above, but larger mirror head. R/L: different base = angled left, angled right.
C8AZ-17696-B .. similar to above, but mirror head surrounded by a shroud.
These non remote, outside mirrors are the same (exc D3TZ) as 1967/78 Ford passenger cars used. They were also the standard equipment mirrors first offered on 1967 F100/350's, but were not installed at the factory = they were sent inside the trucks cab in a box. It was up to the dealer to install them, as most ppl wanted different types.
Do you really want passenger car mirrors on a crew cab truck?
EDIT: Mebbe Mil1ion can list the illustrations shown in the parts catalog...

the mirrors on my crew look exactly like the ones in the pic of Ray's truck above, except they are in damn near perfect shape. I'm taking them off as soon as I locate some of the 92-96 mirrors. Are these older ones easy to find in good condition, or do most of them look like Rays?

those nice new ones with one mount arm are super nice!!! i will be getting a set of them!
You can buy factory orig Low Mount Swing-Lok from AutoKrafters, but they are expensive. (Part #D4TZ-17696A $79 each) I have the low mount recreation mirrors on mine. They are great, but really stick out and they will waste your door if you hit anything solid with them. I have been considering buying the Swing-Lok and having them installed when I have the truck painted. They also have the small mirrors D3TZ-17696L for $59 each.
