Point me in the right direction

Well since it is winter and I really can't do anything with my truck. I was wondering what is the first thing I should do around spring time. I know restoring her (My 66 f250) is gonna take a while, I am happy about that. What should I do first? the engine works fine and everthing else is up and running. Should I do cosmetic work and body work and then work up to the engine swap (which will take some money saving) Or tune up my engine?(240 with a t18 behind it)
I know all the brains on this site can help me get a start on things.

How long have you owned the truck and how many miles have you put on it in that time?

Kinda depends on how much of a 'restoration' you intend to do. A full restoration can take up to couple years or more. Space is another issue, storing parts as you disassemble cant take up a lot of space. If intend engine or tranny rebuild, suggest waiting towards the end of the project, no need to have a freshly rebuilt engine setting for several months. Speaking from experience, other responsibilities come up that need to be attended to and can prolong the project.

For lack of a better term, there is what I would describe as a rolling restoration where the project is taken in stages where the truck would be out of commission for periods at a time. In this case, suggest compile a list of what the truck requires, including any upgrades may want to consider. Next I would do some research, this is where FTE is extremely helpful, in addition to any manuals or books, home or library, available. If intend farming out any of the work, check with shop for estimate of cost and time required. Finally, start acquiring parts.

Anyhow, had an urge to chime in and add my $.02, I am certain other members will have additional suggestions. Good luck!!

This could be a tough question; If your not driving it due to winter or its just to plain cold to work on it where your at? Along with Dave's & John's mentionreplies; those are two really deciding question. And if its a weekly used truck and weekends are free to work on I recommend taking care of the not so seen stuff first. Like pulling out the gas tank; detailing and painting that area; if seat needs redone; paint the seat frame. Work on frame cleaning & detailing; Man I could go on & on; but you need to let us know the exact level of resto you want to due. And ocourse everything over see's the mighty dollar.
Anything to clean up & make new looking is always a plus.
