They are already wired to the fuse box with their own fuses. Ford is I guess trying to help out people who add accessories to their trucks. Do a search in this forum on "upfitter" and you will find lots of info and a link to a Ford website to help you wire the switches up. The only thing some people don't like is the switches are wired to work with the ignition switch. So unless the switch is on, nothing wired to the switches will work.
I have a 2007 F150 Lariet. Not sure the upfitter switches work on the F150 like they do on the super duties.
What are the switches rated at (amps)?
I have amateur radios, GPS, computer, etc. that I want to install. I need these to operate when the ignition switch is off, so I will be using a direct wire to the battery. I will be installing some kind of fuse system.
I am going to install a center radio console, similar to what is found in emergency vehicles, and install the upfitter switches on the console. I have a column auto and 40/20/40 seating.

The switches are activated by a relay. Remove the relay and jump the terminals with a jumper and the switches will be hot without the ignition switch being on. The circuits are still protected by fuses. jd
Since you are going to use them in a truck that didn't have them in the first place, and you want them to work differently anyway, the only reason to use them is you already have them laying around, or you want to use them because of cosmetic reasons. If you do not have any of these reasons as priority, you would be just as well to buy universal switches and mount them, since you will have to do all the wiring for them anyway.
