well today i was driving down the road and i saw a dulley that was parked beside a house. i turned around to check it out, and i caught the owner outside. i asked him if he was interested in selling it and he said he was. he told me he would make me a really good deal, that he would let me have it for $400.00 dollars. i was like woohooo possibly a turbo, but to my disapointment there wasnt. it is a 89 f350 7.3 e4od extended cab, the body needs some paint and the rear fenders need replacement. one plus is it has a brand new radiator and new injectors. the down fall is the owner said he thinks it has blown head gaskets. he said after you drive it for awhile it starts running hot, but i pulled the dip stick and no oil in water and no water in oil. it could be something other than head gaskets causing it to run hot. i would love to buy it just for parts, but the bad thing is i just bought another truck last weekend for the front cap, and i think me buying another truck would roll over like a turd in a punch bowl with the wifey. im going to try to do a little sweet talking anyway. lol
If he put a new rad then he may have done a tstat too.....if he put anything other than a Ford or IH one in, it will run hot..... also the clutch fan may be bad and help cause the running hot problem. IP timing may help cause the problem too.. just be suttle and ask some more questions........you may get the answer you want to hear.
CAUTION:
The specified/required thermostat does not contain an internal bypass, since the bypass is located in the cylinder block. Whenever the thermostat is replaced, it is mandatory that only Motorcraft E5TZ-8575-C or Navistar 1807974C94 thermostat be installed.
yes plc7.3 i kind of felt him out when i was talking to him about the truck. i dont think that he is too mechanicly inclined, just someone that just knows how to run the tires off it until it breaks and then just sets it off to the side and buys another. thats going by the look of the other 5 broke down cars in the yard lol. just he told me that he did run it hot on several occasions and i dont know how much damage he did. hopefully theres not much wrong with the engine, cause it will be installed in my shrimp boat. i think it would be awsome to convert it to marine and i bet it would have lots of power. im not worried about speed just power. what do you think?
well thats what im pushing for, if it turns out that there is nothing wrong with the engine other than something simple, one of them is going in the boat. i dont know if it will be the 6.9 or the 7.3. i have a 351 gas guzzler in there now and it would be real nice to put a diesel.
26' long by 8'-6" wide on top side. its a shrimp boat, idont need it for speed i need it for power. with nets in the water for a total of 32 feet across and the current from the water, believe me i need all the power i can get. lol
17" four blade pusher prop on a 1-1/2 to 1 clutch. the engine thats in there now is pushing a 15" three blade and it wont even try to get it on top the wave with the four blade on there i even tried it.
