Ringing in the drive train?
My 08 SD Diesel just developed this problem. When cold and driving between 26 and 28 mph, I get a whistle or ringing sound especially if I let it coast. It gets pretty loud and is audible from outside the vehicle. It seems to be coming from the front of the vehicle, though I can't be sure. I can't tell if it's coming from the transmission, drivetrain or maybe front drive transfer case (I'm leaning towards this). It's speed dependant not RPM related so I think it's in the drive train not the engine.
After the truck is fully warmed up this problem is gone.
