97 ford running bad

Hello , I am new to the site and I need some help Please. My truck was running fine . I let it sit up for 4 months when I started it and it ran like crap. I put fresh Gas in it fuel cleaner still runs bad . Then I replaced both coil backs and this did not help. Do you think it could be the crank are cam sensors? I went to a parts store and they said it was misfiring on three cylinders thats why I replaced coils But it made know change. Thanks Jesse

welcome to FTE.what size motor do you have?have the plugs or plug wires been changed? do you have all the code numbers pulled at the parts store?

The motor is the 4.6 I don't have th codes but I will go back to the parts store tomorrow. Plug wires are original . Plugs were changed in March of 07. thanks

I think I fixed it I put a new set of plugs and wires Seems to be running ok . Light came back on egr valve Is what they told me . Can that be cleaned ?

sometimes the egr system can be cleaned but not always. did the code say insuffiscent flow? if the egr valve gets carbon caught in it, it will idle real rough, stumble and stall. until it passes the carbon or charcoal. i've seen charcoal canisters fail and it will plug things up causing the code!
and you can do yourself a favor and write the codes down and the erase them. go for a ride and rescan. then see if they come back.

If it will not clean up I will buy a new one . The 70ss is the SS/RS big block camaro I own. thanks

You really need to post your engine size and the actual codes. You'll get much better help. If your "EGR insufficient flow" is actually a P0401, chances are pretty good it's not the EGR valve and fixing it probably won't solve your problem
