Whoever originally purchased this truck must have done a ton of highway driving - AOD with 3.55 gears. Gotta be rollin around 65 mph to even keep it in OD without lugging. But, where I am living now on the northern California Coast we really have no Highways.
Anyone have a gear recommendation with the stock size tire? (235-75-15)

Out at the River doing that thing

Thats just a clean truck.

I have 3.55 gears with 31 10.50s and don't have that much of an issue with the gears. I can keep it in OD going 55 if I feather the gas pedal.

If you are going to keep the stock 235 75 15 tires I would not go more than 3.73 gears.

The tires on your truck look like they are 30 9.50s are they?

If that was my truck I would run 31 10.50s and 4.10s.

I agree with TexasGuy001 100%. Go 4.10's with 31x10.5's.

New guy here you can call me cole im 16. Showing off two very fine trucks. First is My 96 F150 4X4. Got it from my grandpa and man i love it.

1996 F150 5.0L about 180K No rust some paint chipping. warn locking hubs. its an XLT. This picture was taking at my friends place easily one of my favorite pics.

This second pic was to show off the box cover Im thinking about getting it painted red matching the truck. Again at another friends farm.

Closed Topper this time.

Next was me trying my hand at a little flexing on a curb.

The next truck is my dads 87 F250 XLT Lariat 6.9L Diesel. 2WD

Now Both the trucks side by side. This is finally at our farm.

Both trucks have no rust spots at all. I counted and between these Generations my family has had about 10 of these. My dad has an 89 F150 thats the same colour just really faded and all bent up and an 87 Black F150 both are lariats ill get some pictures up sometime they are not as photo pretty as these two. Hope to post often enjoy.

Nice find. Thats a great deal.

It says 4x2 under the headlight. I'm not sure why they even did that one. I dont think I have ever even seen that before.

this is just a hunch but were the 460s switched to EFI in 87? im assuming they were but if not that would explain why it says 4x2 instead of EFI

thats my thought, correct me if im wrong lol

hey guys

i have a transmission issue and cant really find a forum for it was wondering if anyone could tell me where to go. i have a 93 f150 supercab. 5.8 351W 4x4 lifted. when i bought the truck ran fine speedo meter bounces cause the idiot before me put in a aftermarket cluster. one day it had a super high idle. drive it home took it to a shop and they replace the idle swith on the throttle body, the plunger thing. didnt fix it. so drove it with no idle sensor. well about 1 to 2 months later. i would shift later then what it was supposed to. then one morning it would not shift past 3rd gear. checked tranny fluid. all good. took it to a mechanic friend of ours. like a backyard mechanic lol. very good guy. went to a junk yard got a e4od and put it in. would not shift into any gear at all. so we figured tranny was out. put the old one back in and drove it home today. still shifting late. and i need to rev it up pretty high to change gears. any help would be appreciated. im beginning to think it may be a sensor that tells the tranny when to shift......
