Brake Controller & Tires Feedback
2000 X Limited, V-10, 88K Miles. Spent Christmas break on a snowmobile and skiing trip. Towed a 5000 LB, 4 place covered snowmobile trailer in Southern and Central Oregon around Crater Lake National Park and Mt Bachelor Ski / Snowmobile Resort.
The winter driving conditions during this time were the worst I've ever been in... 4 wheel drive the entire time and had to chain up twice (thanks to the State Police). The Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller recommended on this board was outstanding. The ability to advance the braking on the trailer really helped on some steep downgrades in really bad conditions. The Michelin LTX M+S were also outstanding. At one point, we got ourselves in a near blizzard with 40 MPH wind gusts on the highway. My X stayed straight and true despite the wind, and the traction and control with those tires, given the conditions, was better than I expected.
So Thank You to the folks who take the time respond to inquiries and give good advice for what products to by for the X. As for my X, well, that's one heckuva a truck!
