This morning I thought i smelled diesel fuel when I got out of the truck at work but didnt pay much attention to it till I went to lunch and smelled it again.
When I got home tonight my son and I tried to find where the smell was coming from and found a small ammount of fuel in the valley, I cleaned up as much as possible and wiped everything off. I then ran the truck around the block an checked it again to find out that the area under the drain valve on the fuel heater/filter was a little wet, i think the fuel is leaking around the drain valve body . Can anyone tell me if there is a special gasket or O rings that I have to purchase only from Ford in there, or can i fix it with my usual 10 trips to autozone?
Not to worry, this seems to be a common leak after time. Here is a link on "How Too" fix the leak. It also tells you the size of the o-rings needed. Also if you go under the search feature on this site and type in fuel leak, you will find several posts on this issue. It seems that there is someone every week asking the same question. Enjoy.
Mine is doing the exact same thing. I tried to order some of those #202 O-rings (1/4" I.D.- 1/8" cross-section) Vitons from the guy on that site but he wont ship em to Canada for me. Is there a common place to order these in your local city, or can I pay someone from this site to ship me some? Thanks fellas.

Ok, Now the bad news. Just got an email from Mcmaster, they can't ship them to Canada either since I am not in their long line of established customers. My search continues.
Do you have any dedicated plumbing houses near? I would snail mail you some, but I gave all of mine away. Be sure to get VITON though or else you be doing it again down the road.
Thanks for the offer Alpine6. I went to my local hydraulic store and managed to nab 15 of the little buggers for .40 cents each. So alls well that ends well.
Thanks for the help guy's, I went to grainger today and ordered a pack
I think it was @ $5.00 for a pack of 12.
and just out of curiosity I did stop by my local Ford Stealer and the rebuild kit which consists or 4 -O rings and they only want $48.00 for them, They also sell the complete valve for $57.00, Dang I sure am glad for this forum.
What a money saver.
I had to replace the valve on my truck last week. It was leaking and I discovered that the housing was a little warped. It relaxed the pressure on the o-rings enough to let them bleed the fuel.
I ain't believing this
I replaced mine with buna orings from Ace hardware a couple weeks ago
I ordered some Viton rings from McMaster-carr yesterday and have them in my hand now
