This (ugly) aluminum cap is on my '91 F150, and I was told it had been there from new. The inside of the bed is in a lot better shape than the rest of the truck, so that rings true. But I'm wondering who made it. The only clue I have is a logo in the side windows that looks like S-W-A, all linked together.
Its prob made by a company that already went out of buisness, did you do a google search on it?
Yeah, I googled. It may be "aws" and I thought that could be all-weather something or other...I tried a lot of variants. Y'know, ugly as it is, it's certainly durable. You can still get aluminum caps, but they're mostly for commercial uses. In the process of googling, I found one that looked a lot like this, but I've lost it again...the company name wasn't anything like what I was looking for.
Someday, this one will be replaced by something more stylish, but there are other priorities for now. It works. It's a working truck, not a showpiece. Those side windows have screens in 'em, and you can crank 'em open from inside. The latch locks, so all's dry and secure inside. And when I'm driving it, I don't have to look at it. I have to try to see through it, not easy in bad weather with three unwiped windows (cab, front of the cap, and back), but that's what those outside mirrors are there for.
