I have been tossing around so many different ways to get a little more out of my excursion while making room for bigger tires. My truck is a 2005 x 4x4 EB. I want to keep it simple but want it to look street hungry and allow for bigger tires. I talked to someone today that said he could put f 250 front springs on my truck and that would lift it about 2 inches to level it out nice. He said I would be able to put 295 70 17 or 285 75 17 on without rubbing. Now to me this sounds like the easiest way to get a little extra. He said the job is around 450.00 installed with alignment but he would have to double check if I'm interested. Does this sound like something that would be worth while or what? Any pics of someone doing this? Sorry about the long message I just have a lot to say. Thanks Dan
Swapping F250 springs onto an Excursion is a very common upgrade to eliminate what has become known as steering wander.
Do a comprehensive search here using "springs" and "wander" as your search criteria and you'll get hours of reading.
For that $450 price, you'll only be getting two new springs, and depending on which springs, you'll probably get about 1.5" of lift in the front. But the rear of the Ex will still sit at the same height, which will probably be juuuuust a hair lower than where the front will sit.
Bad url Dingbat... it comes up as a travel agency. Could you check and repost the take-off site? Thats some cheap springs...
Ahhh hahahahahahaha!
I read that above quoted post and thought, "Daaaaang, just because it's a bad link, the guy gets called a dingbat?" Then I looked and realized that's the registered forum users name!
