steering column

On my 69 truck the collar that holds the steering to the bottom of the dash has a wedge between the top of the collar and the column. Can I move this wedge to the bottom of the steering column to raise the column up about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch without putting anything seriously out of line? Thanks alot, Mike

As long as your ragjoint is in good condition, I can't see any real issue. I suppose the cab might be sitting a bit lower then original anyway(cab mounts/rubber sinking). Since the column isn't really supported at the bottom(firewall), it shouldn't really cause any problems.
