Stall Converter Behind 460
In my bronco I got a 460 with a auto. I use it for muddragging. I would like to be able to stall up to my engines powerband. It pulls really hard starting around 2200-2500. It still has 3.50 gears and I like the speed that I get.I was wondering if I need to buy twice as big of stall because I run in low range. The engine just stumbles off idle.Isuppose to big of cam is the problem. Anyhow any ideas on putting a stall in this would help. (36"tsl is my tires, lunati oo96 is my cam,performer intake 750edelbrock carb the rest is stock.)

call a convertor company tell them what you have and what your doing and most of them can set you up. I run edge convertors myself and have real good luck with them.
But simple answer to your question is NO you don't need one twice as high running low range.

well imo your cams not that big ,i ran that same one years back in my f250 with 4.10's and 39.5's and it ran good . theres other options too that would help .what year is the motor,do you have the older( straight up) timing set on it? recurving your dizzy would help also.just some thoughts for ya

your gearing is pretty tall, is your bronc street driven? I was running a 2800 TCI behind my turbocharged 528 and didn't even get 1000 miles out of it, would stall at 4200 while driving, blew up the sprag, drop your gears to 4.56 and your 460 will come alive alot faster, loose converter is counterproductive, wasting hp slipping converter instead of spinning tires

you guys are forgetting he is running it in mud drags using low range which changes his gear ratio to 7.00:1. I used to run 3.50 gears with a np208 and 35" tires with a 302 and won a lot of races with that setup.
