Hey guys, For anyone whos been following i had to take my lower intake manifold off because i broke a bolt in the thermostat housing, went to use a easy out and ended up breaking that. So i cut the bolt flat and cheated the housing over a little bit, drilled a new hole and heli coiled it. Great fix but it started to leak. So i tore it down and installed a new used lower intake manifold. It was a pain in the **** lol. I also took Jr's idea of painting the upper plenum to match the truck and it looks killer, altho all the wires and vaccum lines cover it now. I also used someones idea of using permatex black to make my gasket instead of using the cork ones, i was a little leary about doing that but im sure if it didnt work the truck wouldnt stay ilding because of a vaccumm leak. All in all everything went pretty smooth. Make sure if anyone is doing this at the moment, put the PCV valve in first before setting the upper plenum to the lower, i forgot to and it was a huge pain fishing it through there, i ended up taking it one section at a time. I also installed a new cap and rotor and wow does she run smooth.
Well here are some pictures of what i started with and what it looks like now. Thanks to all that helped!
Yep, not sure if you saw the second round of pics. Its in there. I ran out of light so tomorrow il take some of the finished product with the cover over the throttle linkage and also the intake tubes connected.
Thanks for the comments, Im pretty happy with how it turned out. Could have went with some different valve covers and wutnot but i had to get it done because i start college on the 7th.
king, go to your settings in your user account and fix your posts so they are not so wide.
His post is wide because the first post in a thread always has an advertisement next to it. So if you embed an image in the first post it butts the image next to the advertisement and makes the page wider. The only way to avoid this is to not post images in the first post of a thread. Leaving a crapton of blank lines or text at the top of your post might also do the trick.
Yea it looks good man, told you that RTV would work lol. Performance tricks are the best lol. Did you ever get that dist moving?
Yea it worked so far lol. No i didnt get that distributer to move, went to use the ole PB blaster and the can stopped working, it was a newer can. So i just left it for now. Il get to it this spring, i got really lucky and we had some freak weather up here in michigan with 65 degree temps. Well today was the last day for the warm temps and back to snow tomorrow. It was nice working in just a long sleave instead of a carhart that gets in the way of everything. Sorry about the pics being so wide. They're not wide over here on my computer.
Thats fine, yea here in NJ it was like 70 yesterday and today, guess Im not making any money plowing anytime soon, was nice to drive in my stang with windows down and sun roof out.
