1996 EFI 460 mods, help!
So far I have only tuned it up (including fuel filter), and said goodbye to the cat (OBDII didn't like that, but you can fool it into thinking the cat is still active).
Now for some questions for the seasoned EFI 460 guys:
On my '89 there where resticive horns in the intake, I don't see any on this '96. This truck is a CA model, does it have them?
I have read on this board that the CA '96-'97's are mass air. How do I tell if this truck is mass air?
If I change the timing set to a pre-72, what should I expect since this is an EFI 460? Will I still see a nice power bump or will the engine simply explode?
Will the mpg go into the toilet or get better?
Any input for mods on this truck greatly appreciated.
I would also recommend throwing that cat back on, as it cleans up something (benzene, maybe?) that is EXTREMELY cancerous. If you're that concerned with back pressure, try running just the cat with no muffler. Many of us here (including me) do that and have noticed increases in power and fuel economy at the expence of a little low-end torque, but you've probably already seen that after the removal of the cat. Also an after market cat can sometimes flow better than a high-perf muffler. Random's cats will out flow just about anything on the market.

On my '89, I just tapped the air line into the exhaust pipe.
the law has a good point about the cat taking care of benzyne though. After reading his post I did some research and found what he said to be true.
