auto overdrive and part time tcase conversion
I am considering buying a 74' F-100 4x4 single cab, straight six/ auto. The interior is nice, body straight, runs good, and has a/c.
Asking price 3800
My question is, how much would it cost to do a part time conversion if I use salvage yard parts and do the work myself and what parts are involved. The simplest most cost effective way would be prefered.
And second, is there any options as far as converting to a overdrive auto tranny to replace the 3 speed. I am not worried about making crossmembers, driveshaft lengths, etc. But are there any that will bolt up and be fairly straight forward.
I plan on driving the truck everyday, which is why I would like the part time tcase and overdrive.
How much would the parts for the overdrive conversion cost, junkyard parts are fine and what parts involved. Could I expect upper teens for mileage with the 300, overdrive and part time tcase.
Also is this a fair price for the base truck (3800)?
Lots of questions but I am new to these earlier trucks.
