SuperCrew smokes at startup
start it? I first noticed this problem at about 3500 miles. At a
little over 5,000 miles I took the truck in for the seat belt recall
and mentioned the problem to the service manager. He acted like I did
not know what I was talking about, that it was probably moisture I was
seeing. I have seen enough smoke coming from my old Chevy to know when oil is getting past valve seals, but I agreed to give it a while
longer and see if it improved or got worse. It got worse. I left it a the dealership today with a little over 6,000 miles on it. They are
going to see if they can see it smoking. It does not do it every time and there seems to be no pattern to how long it has to sit. Anyone else had this happen?
Like Wolf had posted, my truck was also
made in Kansas City and has dirt in the paint. The service manager offered to paint it, but since only one spot is visible on the tailgate (the rest is on top of the cab), I told him I would rather stick with the tougher factory paint.
My first experience with a brand new vehicle hs made me wonder if I
made a mistake.

"new" motor. Did you all know that when Ford puts in a "new" motor that they use a remanufactured block? I didn't
until now. Ask your dealer. I have started the process of a buy back. I didn't pay this kind of money for a truck with
6,000 miles on it and to have a rebuilt motor, whether it has a warranty or not. My advice to anyone else who sees a
little puff of smoke upon start up, take it to the dealer immediately and let him do a compression test. Robh289, I am glad
your truck turned out to be ok, just keep an eye on it.
