What to do? 1973 SCS 390 Bed floor has rust and holes. I am considering
replacing it. The only company that I can find with a replacement says
f-100 thru f-350 use the same part, but I know the frame rails are different
widths mine 33 1/2 but for $309.00 plus $240.00 to ship I am not going to
chance it. Plus drilling out a gazillion welds and a heck of a lot of welding
makes a diamond plate bed addition look as a better option. The bed is
at the sandblaster, the frame has 3 coats of por-15 rear plastic tank repaired
new brake and fuel lines on. Once I do the cab lift and clean/paint frame under
the cab REASSEMBLY can begin. Opinions-Words of Wisdom?

That company is telling you wrong.
Three different bed floors were used.

I think they mean they will sell you the same part, you have to make it work
The easiest answer, and a guarantee for success, buy a good used cab from a non rust belt area. By the time you are done, you will be lighter in the wallet around $600 or so (depending on your luck) but you wont spend HOURS and HOURS patching and welding up floors, just one day swapping your stuff over.
thanks NumberDummy and masterbevis,
However, since my truck is a Super Camper Special finding a replacement bed is
going to be harder than 40+ hours of grinding, drilling, welding, and &*^#@.
It is an odd configuration- I have enjoyed the postings about the SCS's
