First gear ticking.
Have had a ticking noise from the transmission for about 2 years now and am just wondering if anyone else has this? '99 Super Duty 5.4 with 90000 miles. It is only noticeable in first gear and the tick keeps with the speed of the truck. No noticeable problems in performance or shifting, and fluid looks and smells fine. Had the fluid changed about 2 years ago also, so I am not sure if it ticked before the change because right when I bought the truck I had the fluid changed out. It is only a light ticking noise, and not an all out knocking noise. It is definitely from the trans and happens with transfer case in 2 or 4wd. The hubs have been changed to Warn manuals so that isnt it. It seems too fast of a tick to be a U-joint or wheel bearing, as those would be much slower in tempo at the speeds I am experiencing this. Also it is not from the engine as when I rev it the tick stays the pace of the truck speed, not the RPMs. Thanks for any and all help.
