Driving in Denver...which I would say comes close to 50/50 driving, at least for what I do.

'05 Lariat CC, SB, 4x4, 3.73, 265/70-17 = 15.5 MPG
'06 Harley CC, SB, 4x4, 3.73, 275/65-20 = 14.5 MPG

I don't get GAS mileage with my diesel truck. Now that the smart-aleck stuff is done.....

I have an '06 Extended Cab, Short Box with a topper on it
6-speed Manual Trans, 3.73 axle

Summer, it gets 20 on the highway if I keep it under 70 mph, and 16-17 in town. That's running 265/70-17 highway tread tires at 65 psi.

Winter, it's 17 highway and 14 around town. That's with a winter blend fuel, cold temps, and 285/70-17 all-terrains at 55 psi.

Towing a 33' travel trailer in the summer at 60-65 mph, it gets 13-14, depending on headwind/tailwind.

I get an average of about 17 with about 50% highway and 50% city.
I use DK every fill up.

I think one of the common elements is to keep your motor under 2K on the tach. I've noticed that for me that equates to between 65-70 mph.

If it was left up to me...I'd cruise at 80-85 all the time. The truck just really SEEMS COMFORTABLE cruising at that speed.

My wife borrowed the truck for a trip to NC....her comment was "Here I am cruising comfortably down the interstate...I thought was was doing 65 or so...the speedo said 80 or so! I laughed long and hard at that one!

I just bought my '05 F250 Crew Cab 4X4 with the 5.4 Gas motor and Torqshift(sp?). Tires are 265/70/17 Cooper Discoverer STs. Gearing is open 3.73. Is there something wrong with me or my truck?!? I took a 200 mile round trip ride and got about 11 mpg at cruise-controlled 74mph. RPMs were just over 2K, I'd say 2100. Around town is lower than that. The truck has 51000 miles on it. The only thing I haul is my comfortable behind. The truck isn't working hard at all.
Also, (silly question) what's DK?

Thanks in advance,

Later...
Brewster...

I keep my fuel records in a tech gallery for all fuel used since I bought the truck.
