While getting ready for our trip to Oregon I was checking out the truck, noticed the 4 low was not working. I cycled the switch it goes into 4 hi everytime. The motor when switching from hi to low doesn't make any noise but will when going from 2 hi to 4 hi and back. BTW my truck is a 2001 F250 with 7.3 and auto. Any Ideas?
Are you sure you are switching it correctly? After you have it in 4wd high, stop the truck, keep your foot on the brake, shift the truck into neutral, THEN shift the **** into 4wd low. This is the procedure when going into or out of 4wd low. If you did it this way and it still won't work then the shift motor on the transfer case is hung up, has a loose connection, or is shot.
