The last few days my truck has been making a strange noise after starting, It almost seems like the starter may be staying engaged for about a half a second after the engines starts. It is not a grinding sound but more like the engine turning over faster. Any ideas? Not very noticable but I don't want to get stranded if I can catch the problem now. Thanks
it might be as simple as dismantling the starter, and clean and lube the starter drive. ifyou try that check the starter drive gear for wear that might cause it to hang up on the ring gear
I went with the NAPA reman'd starter when I replaced mine. It cranks SO much faster than the stock starter it's ridiculous and the electrical connections are much stouter than the stock starter (which are very easy to break even if you're careful).
