I have an 02 F250 7.3 and have been dealing with an electrical ghost. About 6 months ago my stereo, pwindows, over head reading lights would go out momentarily and then return. Over time it has worsened and now they tend to stay off more than on.(Really sucks if your window gets stuck down in the rain)Used to I could bang on dash and they would all begin to work, now nothing seems to change whether they are on or off(just chance)All fuses are good, the accessory relay in the fuse box is also good,no wires appear chafed and all connections appear to be good. please help, I am very frustrated
Sounds very frustrating....i would check as many grounding screws/connectors under the dash as i could find. Since you could hit the dash and it would start to work again might be a loose ground. Anything else not working? Maybe someone with a wiring diagram for an 02 can chime in.
good luck
I checked all the fuses when it was functioning properly with a test lght and found not only were the fuses good but also recieving power. when it is not functioning properly, I am not getting power to the radio start fuse, the acessory delay fuse and the 30amp power window fuse, as well as the accessory delay relay. Im wondering if someone knows where the power for those items come from and how to check or test that power source if one exists.
Well that's definitely a strange one. You haven't got your fuse panel wet have you? Power comes into the fuse block through one large wire mounted on the side. Maybe you should try removing the fuse panel (4 bolts) and probe the back where the wires plug in with the test light and check for any loose connections. Until you get it figured out maybe you can rig up a jumper wire to at least get the windows rolled up.
I would definitely start in the fuse block. Pull it loose (very carefully, lots of power there) and start checking for loose wires. You might can crawl into the floor board with a mirror and start pushing the wires back into the back of the box and find some that have worked their way out. I have one dangling out of the back of mine right now, have no clue what it goes to or how it came loose.

Hi, Just my nickel's worth. My 250 03 kind of did the same thing went to work in morning radio and windows worked fine, that evening no windows, radio, map lights, engine light, and glove box are also out. Narrowed it down to battery saver in instrument cluster. Not servicable? have not had the time to take dash apart. Also fuse #41 blows right away there is a short in the lead to battery saver from that fuse. good luck tracing it down, my hands too big to get up there. You can feed power to the window breaker socket (c.b.#601, in mine) to get windows to work, also the other side will work radio, but no map, glove,or engine (hood) light. The battery saver does work, dome lights go out when door is left open. Weird? also nothing else seems to be affected. the wire Helm diagram shows is light green/orange at connector c270a the long one on the right of fuse block in back when facing the fuses. See what you come up with.

Hey guys,
thank you all for your suggestions and help thus far. There is no alarm system or keyless remote on this truck. I also have removed the fuse box and inspected all connections for loose wires, or corrosion(none found) There does not appear to be any water damage or shorting out to be taking place, at least not visably. I am not blowing fuses ever, just losing power to them. It seems that sometimes vibration causes this to happen(hitting a pot hole or crossing railraod tracks) and other times it will happen with the truck not running just powered on. Sometimes when I let the truck sit and come back to start, everything is working properly, it just never seems to last very long. However, for the first time in 6 months it gave me no problems for a full 6 days. woo! hoo!(now out again) Is the battery saver that you are talking about seperate from the delay relay, and by instrument cluster I assume you are refering to the tac, speedometer etc. in the dash itself. If all else fails Ill jump power like you suggest (right now dealer is not an option) Man, i,m really missing my 66' Mustang right now. My five year old could work on it.
did you check all the grounds too. dont think my batt. saver works went to breakfast one day and left the map light on 2hrs later came out still on unless the voltage didnt drop enough. you see they rise the cab on these trucks to work on them sure they undo the grounds to frame(I think?)
jjosephson; Yea I know what you mean all the bells & whistles are nice but when something goes wrong it is a pita to work on. The battery saver that I think is my problem is in or on the instrument panel per Helms book, the Hayes book does not talk much about it. I just don't have the time yet or enough daylight to really get into it, and it's cold here in Cincinnati. You might try the delay relay on yours, I swaped it with the starter & blower relays nothing changed. I don't like the dealer working on mine either cost too much plus takes too long had a company truck in for an external voltage regulator they had it for a week.
