E brake cable

E brake cable

Had a lot of trouble with my rear driver side brake hanging up, 1999 4x4 Supercab. Couldn't figure it out until I realized I had a smashed cable cover on that side. It actually pinches the cable inside bad enough it will hold the brake on that side on if you use the e brake. Anyone have any idea how much trouble it is to replace that and where I could find one.

IDK about your 99', but I recently replaced all the e-brake cables on my 88'. I just got them at Advance Auto but any major chain should have them. As for difficulty factor...... I would give it a 3 beer rating. No rocket science just aggravation getting the cables re-attached and the springs adjusted. Any car I have ever played with the e-brake seemed to be just about the same. That technology hasn't changed in decades.

You should be able to get the cables about anywhere. The replacement isn't hard just aggrivating as said earlier. You only have to change the one cable so you have it a little easier.

just had the same damn thing happen to me today on my 94. i was told i need a new cable.

Same thing happened on my 99. I bought both left and right cables from o'reilly for like $20 ea or something like that. They're not that hard to replace, just a little aggrevating. Good luck!
