Would you be able to tell if you have a dual mass flywheel by taking the cover off that goes between the bottom of the transmission and engin? What to look for if you can? I hope someone put in a solid flywheel so when the time comes to replace the clutch thats all I have to replace, and it looks like that time may be comming soon. If it was switch to solid will I have a hard time finding a clutch to fit?
Mine was the same way when I changed it on my 94'. I don't think you can tell by removing the inspection plate. The clutch will not be hard to find. I think I paid $575 to my door with the solid fly wheel conversion from Luk clutch.
You can see the side of the flywheel if you remove that cover. A DMF will have what looks like 2 flywheels one on top of the other. The SMF will be obvious and will be a single piece. If you have a SMF you will have to remove it anyway, so you can have it resurfaced. I wouldn't waste the time changing the clutch and pressure plate without resurfacing the flywheel.
As far as parts you can go to carolina clutch. They are a sponsor of this site also. I have heard Vaiar (sp?) is also a good place.
lol... i would be happy with just a d66 right now... lol but i need to do my downpipe... and get rid of the dmf... and then i really need injectors... but i do not really have the funding for that right now..
If you do the SMF and the DP I would suggest the uppipes too. Imagine how easy it would be to do them at that point. I wish I did mine when I did my last clutch
How long do the stock clutchs last? My truck had a goose neck in the back and cement all over the bed probably from a bricklayer so the thing pulled some weight at one time. Has 112k.
