Hi, Im having a problem with my truck stumbling off idle.It had been sitting for two years.I given it a tune up and replaced the bad vacuum lines.I was wondering if anybody has had this problem. It is a 88' f250 with 7.5 and 5 speed.
Hmmm... See if this helps. I have a 91 with a 5.0. It sits around a lot.. Eats gas like a mother (4 speed, geared low)... I call upon it from time to time when I need to do "truck things"-- I had the EGR replaced when it started doing this (new to Ford trucks at that time and didn't know about FTE---) They told me afterwards that the EGRs, at least on 302s, don't like to sit around. The guy in the garage says he squirts WD 40 into one of the little holes on the top and it worked fine until he let the truck sit around too long. The new EGR I have is doing that again.. So a quick way to rule that out is to squirt WD into any of the little holes on top and let it sit a while and see if it helps.
Come to think of it, when this happened, it was idling very poorly to the point of stalling, but once driving it, it was fine until next stop light.. And the check engine did come on during the rough-idle, so the WD in the EGR may not help you in this case, but costs nothing to try except a couple shots of WD Or pen oil.. And definitely cheaper than replacing an EGR if that is the case.
