Distributer!

Hey Guys, I took my upper and lower intake off, broke the bolt in the front right corner, so i thought for me to get to it with a drill i thought i would take my distributer out. Glad i didnt, but i went to take it out, took the bolt and hold down off and it would not move! I tried tapping the bottom with a rubber hammer and everything and nothing worked. Like i said i really didnt think about it but the bolt went straight up and down, so it was easy to get to with the drill, and also it would have been hard to keep the shavings out of the distributer hole. That would be nooo good. Just want to take it out so i can bump up the timing a little bit.

You have to take the distributor out to get the lower out, at least on my truck I did. The manifold didnt want to come out. My distributor wasnt 2 frozen. Try to grab the dist base with a vise grip, just go easy on it. If not spray around base with PB or WD40.

No i was able to slip the lower out by taking the injector harness off on one side and moving it out of the way. Yea il have to spray it with some PB, i was going to do that last night but forgot.

I guess it is a common problem with the stuck distributers. Mine is the same way. I have used pb blaster and beat on it for hours with no luck. I guess the aluminum body of the distributer bonds with the aluminum manifold. I was told you can pull the manifold and beat it out from the bottom if you don't mind ruining the distributer. I just ended up leaving mine.

Aluminum manifold? Mine goes into the cast iron block.
