First off, rather or not you think i'm feeding my ego by arguing is irrelevant to rather or not my argument is correct or not. If you don't think I'm right(which is perfectly fine) point out where I'm wrong in my argument with my facts, don't try to throw insults, it's not a logical way to debate, it's called the ad hominem fallacy(meaning attacking the person).

I didn't say he was a "newbie", I merely said that I can't assume what he does or doesn't know and I merely tried to express what I have learned thru using this forum(some of which was the hard way) and I wanted to help him not make the same mistakes that I had. Also the OP opened the door for debate when he asked for our reasons why we would do what we are suggesting. When someone asks for reasons why to do or not do something and you have a highly populated group of people with different opinions you are going to get a debate rather you want it or not.

Put it this way, lets say I had posted on here that I have a bone stock truck and I'm wanting to either upgrade the turbo or the injectors, what would you suggest I do and why? Nothing else, no other mods, nothing. Very simple poll. I would like to think that people on here would suggest the other mods that would help make it safer and more reliable for me to do those upgrades, particularly if it was sketchy on rather or not I may or may not know about the other mods or what is really entailed in modding a truck.

Once again based on my experiance is why I was advocating gauges first, for sure before using a tuner period, but I wouldn't have a problem with someone doing the exhaust upgrade before gauges. However, i have fried a totally stock tranny and I wasn't towing or driving crazy and that could have been prevented had I had a tranny gauge to tell me what was going on and trust me I can tell you some scary stories of my driving on the road with a truck that didn't want to shift until traffic was almost right on top of me. That's why I'm passionate about the guages first. I have no problem with considering something different but back it up with reasons why(which is what the OP wanted in the first place), not just throw a hissy because someone makes you think about your opinion and if it really is a good one to have. When I first came on here with an opinion that Bullydog was a really good programmer for my truck, as it turned out I was wrong and have since payed a hefty price for that opinion despite what people were saying on here, my opinion was wrong and I had to learn about that. I'm trying to help this person not go thru those hefty price learning wrongful opinions if I can as did older members of these forums did for me.

Good grief, I just thought i'd stick a poll on the fourms and see what kind of responses I got. lol

Lighten up fellas, seriously!

Guages are in the plan, just not right now. As money gets right, they'll make it in the mix. For now, I just want to start in on econ and towing parts. I don't ever plan on any kind of racing, ever. Will I occasionaly hit the fun pedal? Sure, but never enough to put things in jeopardy.

Either of my options are about all I can do at one time. So it seems the concensus if I ONLY do one or the other is exaust. That's ok too because I have friends in the business and I can probably get a Turbo back system installed for about 5 bones. That's either 4 or 5" w/ or w/out a muffler.

At any rate...

Thanks for the responses.

I say go with the exhaust first. Maybe I am biased because that is what I did first, but I did it more so for sound than anything else. But it is great that it lowers EGT's and helps the truck perform. I am playing it safe however and installing a pyro before I get a tuner. I may never run the hottest tunes, but I do want a little more giddy-up. I say go the for exhaust first. Then at least a pyro gauge and then the tuner. Just to keep it on the safer side. Regardless, its your truck, you do what you think is right.
