I've never played with the heater controls but I can help you with the dash. First you will need to go by the local auto parts store and buy the U shaped Ford radion removal tools (less than $5 for the set).
Stick the U shaped tools in the holes in your radio. They will snap into place. Pry out slightly and then just pull the radio out. Disconnect wiring plug and antenna cable.
The dash is just a snap on item. There are 2 screws above where the radio was that you might want to loosen, but I didn't on mine. I start on the dash by removing the headlight switch. It snaps in also. You can insert a screwdriver under from the bottom end and gently pry it out. If it doesn't want to come then start by loosening (unsnapping) the dash. You will need to unplug the 2 connectors on the back of the headlight switch, one on the power point, and I had one plug on mine that went to nothing.
But basically start at one end and just unsnap everything. It all snaps back together when your done.
