I have T-19 in my 84 now and am looking at swapping for a ZF 5spd myself. I have read a few threads from others who have the ZF and there are some noise issues with it and the single mass flywheel. The T-19 is a pretty stout trans. Just need to watch for worn syncro's like mine which cause hard shifting.

You won't break a T19, but no OD. ZF not quite as strong, but od. Both have the same amount of work to put in. New: pedals, master and slave, flywheel, and crossmember.
