Need new mirrors

So i cracked one of my paddle mirrors.

They are heated right now. I'd like to upgrade to the towing mirrors though if I can. Is it possible to get a heated towing mirror with a blinker also? I REALLY prefer the blinker to be embedded into the mirror. I don't really care for the orange lense on the side of the mirror.

Did any of the years come this way? Do I need to run an extra wire for the blinker since I don't currently have them?

TIA for the help...

Heath

yeah, depending on the year, I believe you will have to run a wire for the blinker. I don't think ford makes fullsize tow mirrors with the in the glass blinker, so you'd have to go aftermarket for those. If you really don't like the orange lenses, you could opt for an older-style mirror w/o the blinker at all, or you could get a clear or smoked lens replacement from like recon (gorecon.com) for the orange lens.

Hope that helps!

my 01 came with the paddle mirrors with the signal in the glass. i then upgraded to the tow mirrors with out signals and added the chrome putco covers(for sale), then i upgraded again to the signal tow mirrors with the factory chrome back covers.

I just changed my paddle ones out yesterday for the tow mirrors. Bought them on Ebay the install was easy and quick. They were heated and came with adapters since I dont need that option..

I went from little doggie ears to 08 towing mirrors and they work great. Its a 04 and all the wires were there that I need and didn't need to run any more

ok, yeah, the 2000 Excursions (That what I have) only have the circuitry in the doors for power move and heat. Any running lights or blinkers are going to require running wires. Depending on which mirrors you get, you'll probably also have to splice the wires because the connectors won't match up. (not a huge deal though)

•If you don't mind the amber lights (which you can change to clear or smoked w/ aftermarket lenses), go with the later model SD tow mirrors or the '08's if you like them better

•If you can't stand the side marker lights in any color (or want to save money) you can get the earlier model (2000) tow mirrors (they are heated and power adjust, but no blinker)

If you want the turn signal, look at various aftermarket brands and maybe you'll find something that you like. Here's a place to start http://www.pickupspecialties.com/Mir...wer_vision.htm

Hope that helps!

Kappy,

Can you tell me who the seller was on ebay (Or perhaps post the actual listing).??

I would like to go with the towing mirrors as well (Heated/Power) on my 2000 LTD.

Cheers,

Here is the like to Ebay where I got them. Good luck. Install was simple and easy. had to take off the door panel and speaker. But each side took 15 mins..

Arggggghhhhh.. The seller you mentioned Kappy will not ship to Canada... Above and beyond, he will only ship to a "Paypal confirmed address". I have quite often in the past shipped to Ogdensburg NY at a UPS store that offers this service to save on shipping as i only about 20 min. from the border... The seller though will not entertain this either!!!!

Back to the drawing board...

Check out partstrain. They are a little more expensive, but that's what bought. Had them for a while, and I'm pleased

Were these a direct fit on your 2000 X? Reason i ask is that if you search the site by vehicle and use Ford Excursion, these mirrors do not appear...

Cheers.

Yes. They fit physically without any problem. I did a writeup on the install that I'll try to find for you. I had to do a little wire splicing, but it was not big deal at all if you scavenge the connectors from your takeoff mirrors. (your X has to connectors for the mirrors [one for heat and one for adjust], the mirrors themselves will have one big plug that will come with an adapter so the big plug can connect to the plug in your X. However, you lose the heated function so you have to splice together the black wires from the mirror to the other connector on your X. I know thats confusing but its easy, I promise
