I am pretty sure my rear in my dump truck is a sterling (86 f350 4x4 6.9). The axle on the drivers side clunks when you start to move either forward or back. The fill point is on the top with a plastic cover by the yoke. Are there numbers stamped on it (housing) or is there a way to tell you the ratio without taking the cover off?. Also this may sound foolish but are they all the same width as far as sticking out from the sides of the truck.
There may also be a tin label attached to a cover bolt on the pumpkin........
I think its oem? There is no sticker as i put on a new cab and doors. And the tin tag is gone. But i did see that there is an additional drain hole on the drivers side bottom of the diff in front of the axle tubes. dont know if this helps to narrow done the choices??

Create a gallery and upload the pictures to your gallery.
There is a total of three axle configurations used in the F 350.
Two go with a frame width of 37.5" measured from outside to outside at the rear of the truck.
A 37.5" frame means the truck left the factory with a pickup box installed.
Single rear wheel 53.75" between back plates.
Dually axle 57.75" between back plates.
Then there is a 34" frame which left the factory as a cab and chassis.
Dual rear wheels 53.75" between back plates.
Cab and chassis trucks also have 2.5" wide rear springs.
The single rear wheel axle and the cab and chassis rear axle are the same length, but the spring perches are in different locations because of the frame width differences.

I measured my frame and it is 34" and springs are 2.5" I will try to create a gallery so i can put up the pics.
All the Dana axles have a much more defined ring gear area on the rear cover.
Also every one of my files show the Dana rear axles having the fill plug on the back cover.
12 bolts on the cover also says Sterling.
Dana 60,70 and 80 have 10 bolts.
And I also must say that is one nice looking 86.
