Speedo, cruise

I have just bought a 94 F250 4x4, 460, 5 speed, and I am trying to work out a few bugs. First of all the speedometer jumps about 5mph over 65. Is this caused by a bad cable or gear? Next the cruise control will jump between accel and coast. In my previous vehicles, the cruise worked off of the speedometer. Is the speedometer causing the cruise to not work properly?

It doesn't have a seedo cable... You probably have a bad or dirty VSS. I have not personally changed mine but I understand they don't cost much. Like $20.00 or so.
