Oil Pan

Is it possible to snug up the oil pan bolts without raising the engine on a 98?

Yeah you should be able to tighten them up a little bit. what engine are we talking about? usually you can even drop the pan a few inches if you need to. Just need extensions and swivel joints.

Yep you can do that. Don't go too tight an distort the pan.

It's a 3.0. I went under today and snugged them up but it's still leaking. Looks like I may need a new gasket. With what I read in Haynes, it's one heck of a job. Any tips. Thanks for the responses.

It depends, you may be able to unbolt the motor and raise it enough to pull the pan out, or at least drop the pan down so you can slide the gasket in, remember you also need to get it around the oil pump.
