Trans too cold?
Good morning all. I've searched but to no avail. This summer I added a Derale trans cooler with a fan in-line with the factory tow package cooler. Now that the weather is much colder, I am getting the dreaded "clunk" when I let off the gas and coast down. If I lock out the OD it doesn't do it. Since this started this year(truck is 2004/65000mi.) could it be the fluid temp is just too cold? I was told once that there is a by-pass block (right by the trans) that shunts the fluid in a closed loop until it reached 180 deg. but I have a gauge with the sender in the test port and I'm not getting above 140-145. Or is this the slip yoke problem and just happened now to rear it's ugly head? Thanks for any replys.
