Post Which engine to use?

I have a 1970 F100 I bought the truck with a 302 in it and have since aquired a 351/400M and 460. Which engine would best fit a street/strip apllication for the money and the power. Also in regards to the 460 waht would it take to turn it in to 460CJ or 460SCJ? Any opinions would be helpful.

Thanks.

Money Vs. power i don't think you can really beat a 460. If I were you, I would go for the 460. It doesn't take much to pull 400 out of a 460 and by then you have barely scratched the surface, plus it will be pretty reliable because the motor really isn't stressing to produce that kind of power. Now I'm not the most knowledgable guy on the 385 series, but I believe that to make it a Cobra Jet you just have to get CJ heads. Not for sure though. IMHO, the 460 is one of the best motors ever made. I am an avid FE fan, but the more I think about it I might save myself a lot of trouble by starting over with a 460 block to accomplish my goals. Right now i am planning a 540ci stroked 460 (4.5 stroker crank)to produce maximum low end torque.

Take the 351/40M and use them to tie a boat up in the water.
There are lots of 460 parts out there. You can build a cheap powerful moter by useing the parts you find on ebay.
Then take those stock heads off and sell them for scrap. Find a set of head from ford motorsport and bolt on some power and a good cam.
Then you will be able to roast the tires for 100 ft and not even tring.
If you really want some power i have played about with desk top dyno and have gotten 550-600hp out of my 460.
