looking for scanner

how do i know if a scanner will work on our motors. Is there a complience number or anything?

OK, I think this is a good question. I know a lot of us have really nice expensive scanners, me not included.

So .. what is the most inexpensive piece of crap that will read the EC's for our trucks and maybe reset it if necessary?

It depends on if you want to read live data or not...

For me it would be just the error code if I had a problem . also the extended Ford error codes.
