Model Difference Confusion for Header Application
I am looking for a good set of headers, and I have decided on the Tri-Y long tube header design. Summit has a set made by Doug's that I really want, but their "application notes" is confusing to me. The description reads:
Item # DOU-D6648Y
Headers, Tri-Y, Steel, Ceramic Coated, Ford, F-250/F-350 Pickup 1980-87, 5.0/5.8L, 2WD, Pair
Notice that the F150 model is NOT listed. Does anyone have any idea why? My truck does have the 5.0, and it is a 2WD, so what is the difference between having a 5.0 in an F150 vs. having a 5.0 in an F250 or F350? Could this be a misprint? Did the F250 and F350 even come with a 5.0?
Jeg's carries the same set of headers, but their description is just as confusing:
D6648Y (same as above)
Fits:
- 1980-87 F-150 4WD
- 1980-87 F-250, F-350 2/4WD
- Will not fit F-150 2 wheel drive.
I want a set of long-tube TRI-Y headers for my 1985 F150 2WD!

As an f-150, you have coil springs and radius arms correct ?
F-250's are leaf sprung thus allowing more room to install headers
In the same factor, F-150 2WD is the same as a 4WD, i think it just has a differnt cross member for the TTB junk in the front end. I belive the radius arms and such are all in the same location.

Or save 100$ and get black painted set.
I would assume they just didn't bother typing up
You could allways call LandL and ask them
